The Jim Bowie Days Rodeo Queen contest shines a light on remarkable young women who embody the heart and spirit of our community. From stage presence and western knowledge to rodeo poise and outreach, these queens serve as ambassadors—celebrating tradition and inspiring those who love the rodeo way of life.

For generations, the Rodeo Queen contest has honored the finest young women in North Texas—those who embody poise, rodeo smarts, and hometown pride. More than a title, it’s a celebration of community spirit, leadership, and tradition.

Contest Categories & Evaluation Criteria

  • Interview – Knowledge of rodeo history, the Festival, and ability to represent the community.

  • Appearance & Poise – Western elegance, stage presence, and grace under pressure.

  • Horsemanship / Specialty Talent (if applicable) – Riding skills or talent that connects to western heritage.

  • Community Engagement – Volunteer efforts and connection with local fans and organizations.

Responsibilities of the Rodeo Queen

  • Serve as ambassador at Jim Bowie Days events, rodeos, parades, and community appearances.

  • Engage audiences with warmth, confidence, and knowledgeable conversation about the festival and its history.

  • Inspire younger generations and represent rodeo tradition with integrity and enthusiasm.
