The 59th Annual Jim Bowie Days Rodeo & Celebration is bringing double the fun with TWO separate Mutton Bustin’ events this year — one during the Youth Rodeo and one as part of the nightly UPRA Rodeo performances! Both give young riders ages 4–6 a chance to shine in the arena, but the entry process and competition nights are different. Here’s everything you need to know:
✨ 1. Youth Rodeo Mutton Bustin’
This Mutton Bustin’ takes place during the Youth Rodeo, and is a great experience for young riders.

Ages: 4–6 years as of January 1, 2025
15 contestants per night
📍 Held during Youth Rodeo at Pelham Park Rodeo Arena

🌟 2. UPRA Rodeo Mutton Bustin’
This event takes place during the professional rodeo performances, under the lights with the big crowd! A great opportunity for young riders to be part of the main show.

12 contestants per night

Short Go Saturday:
Top 3 riders from Thursday & Friday will come back for the finals during the Saturday Night Rodeo (June 28).

Helmet and vest required – bring your own
Parents, Only one parent is allowed in the arena with the mutton buster.
