The rodeo is among Texas’s largest, drawing cowboys and cowgirls nationwide. Events include bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, ladies breakaway roping, barrel racing, bull riding, and a kids’ calf scramble. In addition to the rodeo, the festival features a parade and various activities designed to bring the community together and exchange ideas.
Typically held in late June, the festival has become a source of hometown pride, showcasing the community’s spirit and traditions.

The Jim Bowie Days Rodeo is sanctioned by the United Professional Rodeo Assocation (UPRA). The UPRA is a professional rodeo organization that sanctions and promotes rodeo events, primarily in the western United States. It provides a platform for rodeo athletes to compete in various disciplines, including bull riding, barrel racing, calf roping, and more. The UPRA organizes competitions, offers prize money, and supports the development of rodeo as both a sport and a cultural tradition. The association also works to ensure the safety and well-being of participants while maintaining the integrity of the sport.
